Nicole Martin is the founder and owner of Core Aquatics.
I have been involved in swimming all my life and one of my earliest memories is in regularly swimming throughout the summer months in a local unheated lido with friends and family! Albeit, my father loved to just push me in! Swimming was always an enjoyment on family holidays and has helped with developing and maintaining my fitness.
My professional journey started at the age of 16 by qualifying as a lifeguard and subsequently as a swimming teacher, pool plant operator and most recently, a National Pool Lifeguard probationary Trainer Assessor.
I have over seven years teaching experience ranging from private swim schools, school swimming, leisure centres, disability and adults, with various class sizes. I have covered roles such as duty manager, swimming coordinator and swimming teacher.
I achieved a first-class honours degree in business and management in 2015 from the University of Lincoln which has been invaluable in giving me the skills and knowledge to set up Core Aquatics. As a regular guest lecturer, I’m still involved in supporting both under and post graduate students at local universities.
Through my experience as a swimming teacher and pursing my education, I knew that post degree I wanted to set up my own swim school. I fully recognise that swimming is an essential life skill!
It is these skills and experiences that I’m avid about passing on and replicating for both adults as well as children. It is a highly rewarding role to see swimmers progress and overcome their fears. Our small groups enable us to build a rapport, inherently trusting, with our clients’ which facilities an individualised teaching approach.
